JANUARY 2010 MEETING
The meeting was called to order by President Bob Brownlie.
Old Business from the last meeting was reviewed.
New Business items discussed were:
o T-Shirts: Kevin Powell brought a design he’s working on for the t-shirts. He is looking at trying to incorporate more colors this year into the shirt. Some suggestions were volunteered.
o Hoodies: Will again be offered on a pre-order basis only.
o Awards: We will look into something similar to last year. Suggestions are always welcome.
o Additional National duties were discussed. Working on those items not yet covered. Still
There is a practice scheduled at the Salem Fairgrounds on Saturday, February 13th. 9 AM to 3 PM for current Oregon members and their immediate families. 2010 Memberships will be available at the practice. Lunch will be provided.
Decision was made to furnish pizza and pop at the next meeting for everyone attending.
Next meeting will be at the Clackamas Community Club on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Building is open at 6:30 PM – meeting will start at 7 PM. Check the web for directions.
Hope to see you there.
OCTOBER 2009 MEETING
Update - October 2009
The last meeting of 2009 was held n October 28th at the Clackamas Community Center in Clackamas Oregon. The meeting was called to order by President, Curtis Paulson. There were a total of 10 members present.
Majority of old business discussed was regarding our 2010 National at Washougal.
· The Perry’s are on track for the dinner. Volunteers are already lined up for cooking, serving and cleaning. Dinner will again be spaghetti, but are looking into some changes that were suggested.
· Entry form has been updated for 2010, reflecting the $5 increase that was voted on at the last meeting. There will be no gate, spectator or camping fees.
· At last meeting Kevin Powell had indicated that Bernice & he might be interested in doing t-shirts again. This was confirmed at the meeting – the Powell’s will look into T-Shirts for 2010.
· Discussion on awards. Last year’s awards were well received. It was suggested that we consider something similar for 2010.
There was discussion on the proposed race schedule for 2010. With the change in date that the new Carlsbad Chapter made, there will be 4 races back to back. Everyone felt this will negatively impact the number of races people will be able to attend.
There was an issue last year concerning riders participating at events that don’t belong to an OT Club. We will continue to require cards be shown at our race. Suggestion was made that we send membership lists to other Chapters (and Annie) before each event.
There is a practice scheduled for Sunday, November 8th in Salem. Hours will be 9 AM to 3 PM. Cost will be $10 per rider and is open to current members and their immediate family. Schedule will same as the past. Lunch will be provided.
Other practice tracks/options were discussed. It was brought up that having practices in the Spring most likely would conflict with IOTMX events. It was discussed that there isn’t anything in the rules about having to schedule around OT events, it’s something the Club has done as a courtesy.
Board of Directors for 2010 will be:
· Nate House
· Bob Brownlie
· Curtis Paulson.
Officers for 2010 will be:
· President: Bob Brownlie

Referees for 2010 will be:
· Bob Brownlie
· Kevin Ems
· Randy Layne
Meetings will be continue to be held at the Clackamas Community Club in Clackamas. There was some conversation on the fact that attendance is down at meetings. Mike P brought up the fact that it had been a rough year for the Club and suggested having food brought in to see if we can bring attendance at meetings back up.
Everyone present at the October meeting will receive a free full membership for next year.

SEPTEMBER 2009 MEETING
The meeting was called to order by President Curtis Paulson. There were nine members present.
Discussion of old business was limited:
· Nate was the representative for the Club at the Congress Meeting in Fernley, and gave a brief accounting of the meeting.
· There are still a few t-shirts for sale.
· Bob Brownlie gave a brief recap of the BC race.
Congress Meeting: Curtis reviewed the agenda items that had been voted on at congress. It was noted that Leroy from Idaho was the moderator this year and that next year will be hosted by Central Valley.
International Dates: International Dates were selected at the Congress meeting which Curtis went over. It was noted that Annie McCarthy had sent information to Robbie advising her that a date for Alberta would be forthcoming, and that Carlsbad was looking at an alternate date as well. Alberta will be holding an event each year, and will alternate between tracks in Calgary and Edmonton each year. It was discussed that there are numerous race dates that are back to back which should mean a reduction in attendance for some Chapters. Schedule doesn’t list race locations for some of the Chapters. Oregon will be at Washougal.
For Sale: The For Sale function on the web site is up and running.
Oregon International for 2010:
· Discussed some possible changes to dinner next year. Mike and Robbie Perry have volunteered for dinner duties.
· Not too early to think about awards. Have you seen or received something that looked good? Suggestions will be welcomed.
· T-Shirts: Kevin and Bernice Powell are looking into again.
· There will not be a mini or pee wee practice this year.
· Entry prices will be increased $5 across the board from last year.
Misc:
Practice dates and tracks were discussed, looking into possible dates.
Woodland will be running a full schedule this year. They will be charging a membership fee to ride their track – no other memberships (i.e., MXNW) will be required.
There will not be a MXNW Awards Banquet this year at Oaks Park as PIR is now their only track. Word is they’re planning on doing something at the last PIR race this year instead.
Rumor is there might be a facility coming in the Enumclaw/Maple Valley area located southeast of Seattle. Idea is still in the planning stages. It’s estimated to be about a 3 hour drive from Portland.
The Prineville Track was discussed, they’ve had some setbacks but, the track is still functioning and slowly making a comeback.
Looking for information on a new track in the Canby area. Some people have received flyers. Several members volunteered to try to get additional information for next meeting.
According to Cycle News, there is a proposal to run a regional championship series along with the pro nationals next year.
MX Des Nations will be Lakewood Colorado in 2010.

AUGUST MEETING
The meeting was called to order by President Curtis Paulson. There were six members present.
There was no discussion of old business.
Congress Meeting: Both Nate House and Randy Layne have expressed an interest in attending the Congress Meeting this year, in addition to Mitch Alden. Nate and Randy will coordinate.
We then proceeded to discuss and vote on agenda items for Congress meeting. July 10 & 11, 2010 will be targeted dates for our race next year to be held at Washougal.
International Race Update: Robbie gave an updated P & L from our race as two of the outstanding bills were estimated on the previous accounting. Club will realize a profit from the event. There are still 22 t-shirts yet to be sold. All are XL.
· Raffle: It was mentioned no one seemed to notice or care that we didn’t have a raffle. There were more questions about not getting a free t-shirt with pre-entries. It was noted that the Club hasn’t done that since the mid-80’s and that it’s a way to help keep event costs down.
· Dinner: There was some discussion on dinner and it was decided that the dinner be Spaghetti with Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. Some alternative sauce options will be looked into as well as individual salad dressing packets.
There was some additional discussion of dinner at this year’s race.
BC International: All accounts of track conditions were good and everyone agreed that BC put on another great event. Both raffle and dinner got rave reviews.

JULY MEETING
The meeting was called to order by President, Curtis Paulson. There were a total of 6 members present.
There was no discussion of old business. Main topic of discussion was the International Race
Agenda Items:
Everyone was given a copy of the proposed Agenda Items for this year. Plan will be to discuss and vote on them at the next meeting.
Raffle:
Not having one this year didn’t seem to be an issue with participants.
Mini Practice:
There were only 5 riders that signed up. There was some discussion weighing the pros and cons of continuing this practice.
Dinner:
Discussion immediately turned to the dinner. There were some issues addressed and possible solutions going forward. (Thanks to Kevin P & Jen B and numerous helpers)
T-Shirts:
Shirts came out looking good. Most were sold, with a few XL’s left over. (Thanks - Kevin & Bernice)
Awards:
Awards turned out great, and were well received. (Thanks - Jen)
Overall:
Saturday went extremely well, with only one break taken to prep the track. Practice started at 7:30 AM each day which helped speed the program through. Sunday’s weather proved to separate the visitors from the locals as most travelers opted to ride only one moto on Sunday.
Actual rider count was 293, which was down slightly from previous years. Not all bills have been paid, but outlook at this time is that the Club will recognize a profit for our event.
Play Days:
We will be looking into having 1 or 2 play days this Fall. Information will be posted on the web site as it becomes available.

The meeting was called to order by President Curtis Paulson. There were 12 members and 1 guest present.
Discussion of new and old business was combined since focus of meetings have been geared toward prep for our race.
Oregon International updates:
· T-Shirts: They are in the process of being printed and should be ready for pickup next week. They will be available at sign-up to purchase. Special order hoodies will be ready for pick up at sign-up also.
· Awards. Jen brought 1st place and participant awards to the meeting to show. Everyone agreed they looked great. Cost was within budget, and they arrived early!
· Dinner: On track. Food has been ordered and will be ready for pick up on Friday. Kevin Powell will use the club trailer and will coordinate pick up with Jen.
· Vendors: Curtis mentioned that there won’t be a Skagit Trailer at our race, but that Washougal Power Sports, Hyper X and NW Game Films would be. No one will be allowed to park in the infield area of the track.
· Wristband Checker: We have a person lined up to check rider wristbands both days at the entrance to the starting gate. Riders without wristbands will not be allowed on the track.
· Pit Bikes: No pit bikes will be allowed at the race.
· Rider’s Meeting: Plan to start at 7 AM, with practice starting at 7:15 AM both days.
· Reserved camping area: Mitch will try to reserve space for Oregon members wanting to camp together. There will be a sign up list posted on the web site.
· Clean-up: Curtis mentioned to everyone that clean up after our race is essential since the Pro Nationals are only 2 weeks after our race.
· National Anthems: Jen has volunteered to sing both anthems at our race.
Agenda items: At this time, Oregon does not have any agenda items to submit to Congress.
Loretta Lynn: Carl Chadwick will be heading to Loretta Lynn race this year. Good luck, Carl!
Forum: Lots of chatter on forum concerning transponders. The thought is that this will be a topic of discussion for some time. Most agreed it most likely isn’t something that will be happening soon due to costs involved.

MAY MEETING
5/27/09 Meeting Update:
The meeting was called to order by President Curtis Paulson. There were 11 members present.
No old business to discuss. Focus of meeting went to current issues.
Agenda items. Agenda items for the Congress Meeting will need to be submitted to Annie by June 30th. Some items mentioned were:
· Rider’s riding out of class. This was discussed and determined that this is already being taken care of.
· Out of compliance members. If early races checked cards and addressed the problem, it would be a non-issue. Suggestion was made that it be stressed at Congress the importance of checking cards at first races.
· One Day riders. Again, rule is in place, but clubs aren’t enforcing it.
If you have any suggestions on items you would like to see brought up, please contact one of the Officers.
Oregon race discussion:
T-Shirt & Hoodie orders were finalized. Quantities from last year were adjusted slightly to accommodate requests for more smaller sizes. Thanks Kevin Powell for your hard work on getting this done.
Awards were finalized. We are anticipating having them completed by next meeting. Thanks Jen Berry for a great job.
Dinner helpers for cooking and serving are still needed. Kevin Powell has volunteered to assist, but will have limited mobility due to (unfortunate) accident at Tulare race. Bernice Powell and Jen Berry have both offered their help, but we need you! Please contact one of the Officers or come to the next meeting.
There will not be a raffle this year for prizes.
There will be mini practice at the conclusion of each day’s race format. It will be limited to 60 / 80 and 100 cc bikes – no Pee Wees.
At this time we have no information on a woman’s race, so at this time the assumption is that it won’t happen this year.

APRIL MEETING
4/22/09 Meeting Update:
Meeting was called to order by Vice-President Lloyd Jones. There were 8 members present.
There was no old business to review.
New business focused on our upcoming International Race.
· T-Shirt design has been finalized. There was a discussion on t-shirt sizes to order. The decision was made to increase the number of small and XXL’s ordered, decreasing the number of XL’s to keep the count close to/or at 250 shirts. Selling price will be $10.
· It was decided at the last meeting that the club would offer hooded sweatshirts on a pre-order basis this year with same artwork as this year’s t-shirts. Kevin & Bernice were able to put this together, and Mitch has be posted the ordering information on the Oregon OT web page. Deadline for orders will be May 15th, so hoodies will be able to be screened with our event t-shirts and available for pick up at our race. Selling price will be $25.
· Jen presented additional information on awards for our race. She brought plaque samples to show and offered some additional ideas on ways to keep within our targeted budget. There was discussion on how many awards to order, as well as sizing. Jen will have more information at the next meeting.
· Dinner is still an issue. Kevin Powell has volunteered to assist, but will still be on the mend from his recent crash at Tulare. Volunteers are still needed for set-up, cooking and serving. We need you! If you are interested, please contact one of the officers or come to the next meeting.
· We are still considering options on how to get waivers signed by all attending our race. Since we don’t charge a gate fee, there was conversation on hiring someone to man the gates Friday night and Saturday to catch everyone as they enter. Spectator wristbands will be ordered and must be worn by those attending. More talk next month on this. All ideas/suggestions are welcomed!
Rider counts at the Arizona and Los Angeles races were both up from last year. Central Valley was only down 9 riders from last year, so early indication is that turnout should be good at our race this year.
We are looking at dates in May and June to put together a practice. More information will be available once a date has been picked. Watch the web site for updates.
MARCH MEETING
3/25/2009 Meeting update:
There were 10 members present at the March meeting.
Focus of meeting went to our International race:
· T-Shirts: Kevin Powell wasn’t at the meeting, but had given feedback on changes/costs based on suggestions made at last meeting. The decision was made to go with the original shirt design to keep the price point under $10.
· Awards: Jen has been talking with the Race Rewards, and brought pricing for various size plaques with a suggested breakdown of classes. Jen will contact Kevin P on artwork for design and is hoping to have a sample at the next meeting to show.
· Raffle / Women’s Race: Bill Macdonald wasn’t present to give an update.
· Dinner: Still in need of dinner helpers for set up, food prep and serving
· Wrist Band Checker: We have someone lined up for both days.
· Program: Mitch has volunteered to do the program and will coordinate efforts with Kevin Powell to get it done.
· Track: Riders and spectators will be required to sign a waiver this year. We are looking for suggestions on how to accomplish this since we don’t charge gate fees.
Oregon was well represented at first 2 races of the year. The Arizona Club did a good job on putting together the track and race format. Only downside was lack of track prep between Saturday & Sunday. There also were some issues with spectators not being able to take pictures. Track was fun and technical. Dinner was good and awards were great. Spectators were charged $10. They had a live band Saturday night for entertainment. Oregon finishes were:
+60 Master: Jim Lamkin (4)
+80 Master: Charlie Burchinal (2)
+40 Expert: Susan Lamkin (9), Bill Macdonald (12)
+50 Expert: Jimmy Harris (10)
+40 Amateur: Kevin Hamann (2)
+50 Amateur: Ron Hurd (1)
+60 Amateur: JR Meusling (5), Joe Anderson (11)
+40 Novice: Wayne Warner (6)
LA race was a very fast track. Turnout was better than last year. Good prep job on track, and kept on it all day. OTHG ran on Sunday only. Spectator fee was $20. Oregon finishes were:
+50 Master: Carl Chadwick (7)
+40 Expert: Bill Macdonald (9)
+50 Expert: Ron Lutman (2), Ron Hurd (8), Jimmy Harris (9)
+40 Amateur: Kevin Hamann (4)
+60 Amateur: JR Meusling (6), Joe Anderson (9)
+40 Novice: Mike Fowler (3), Tiffany Proctor (5)
+60 Novice: Lloyd Jones (2)
Central Valley is next race on agenda. Idaho will follow.
Additional play days were discussed. Mike P will look into Albany for later this Spring, and once weather breaks will look into Mtn View.
Lots of bench racing chit chat …………………..
Next meeting:
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd. FEBRUARY MEETING
2/25/2009 Meeting update:
Curtis called the second meeting of the year to order. There were 12 members and 2 guests present.
Main topics of the evening centered around plans and ideas for our International race in July.
The club has received a contract from Washougal for our race this year. There are some changes to what we have done in previous years, but shouldn’t be an issue in hosting our event.
The entry form is being updated and will be sent to our Webmaster for posting. Copies will also be sent to Annie for distribution to the other Chapters and Bill Macdonald volunteered to take some to the Arizona race.
Several other members will be going to the Arizona race as well and it sounds like there will be a good turnout for LA race the following weekend. Bill offered to send updates from the races that he will post to the bench racing page.
We have received word that the Sierra race will be held at Marysville this year. No additional information was given on why the change was made.
Rocky Mtn Chapter will be having their race at the same track in Montana. Got favorable reviews from all that have been there, but it was noted it is a long ways away.
Reminder to everyone to keep notes on issues that may come out at the races this year, so we’ll be prepared to submit our agenda items for the Congress meeting in September. New rules require that we have our items submitted by our race.
Focus was turned to our International Race:
T-Shirts: Kevin Powell had an update on shirts. He took the suggestions from last meeting and brought back pictures reflecting the changes. A suggestion was made to add the US and Canadian flags to the sleeves. Kevin will look into increased costs as this would add another color to the artwork.
Hoodies: Kevin and Bernice have also looked into hoodies with same t-shirt design. Suggestion was to sell them for $25. Discussion on hoodies ended with them being a pre-order or pre-paid basis only. We will not order additional hoodies to sell at the race.
Dinner: Still looking for someone to help Kevin Powell with the dinner. Discussion concerning that we have streamlined efforts to put it on, and have all the available equipment to do it successfully. Shortcake serving is covered but still need people to volunteer for other jobs.
Wristbands: We will need someone to check wristbands again this year at the starting gate.
Pre-Entering: A reminder that you will save $20 by pre-entering our event. Much discussion on the fact we are probably the least expensive OT race to go to.
Program: Kevin Powell volunteered to look into costs of printing.
Raffle: Bill Macdonald has checked with some shops and has found that the response hasn’t been all that good. It was decided we would evaluate it at the next meeting.
Women’s Race: Some continued discussion on the Women’s Race Bill suggested at last meeting. Would have to be held on Sunday – possibly allow them to practice at end of day with the minis. Cost would be $10, with the stipulation that they have to be over 18 and a wife or significant other of a racer present. Also, they may not have competed during our race weekend. Bill said he would do sign up for women as we don’t want to have it affect regular signup for race.
Flyers: Suggestion was made by Kevin Powell that we post flyers for our race at local shops to generate interest. He will look at putting something together and get back to the group with ideas.
We will be proposing a 7 AM start time for practice both days. Rider’s meeting will be held prior to practice and Rider Rep meeting will be held just after. Curtis will check with Washougal.
Next meeting:
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 25th. Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of each month (January through October) at the Clackamas Community Club located at 15711 SE 90th, Clackamas, OR. The building is open at 6:30 PM and meetings start at 7:00 PM. There is no food or drink available at the Community Club, but you are allowed to bring something in if you would like (please note, alcohol isn’t allowed in the building). JANUARY MEETING
1st Meeting of 2009:
There was a good showing of members at the January 28th Club Meeting.
Introductions of the Board Members and Club Officers for 2009 were made, and a Sergeant at Arms was appointed. Congrats to Kevin Powell for taking on the job!
Main topic for the evening was our upcoming International Race, which will be held July 11th & 12th at Washougal. Some items of interest are:
Kevin & Bernice Powell have volunteered for t-shirts this year and have already come up with a preliminary design, which was shown to the group. They are also looking into the possibility of selling hoodies this year (pre-paid basis). They will have additional information at the next meeting on both.
Jen Berry has been looking into ideas for awards for our event this year, and brought several different things to show the group. The possibility of incorporating this year’s t-shirt design into the awards was also discussed. Jen will look into costs and have more information at the February meeting.
It was decided that we will serve spaghetti again this year, accompanied by our traditional strawberry shortcake. Kevin Powell has volunteered to “assist” with the dinner, but we are in need of someone to coordinate efforts as well as servers and a clean up crew. If you are interested in helping, please contact either Kevin Powell or one of the Officers.
Need someone to do the race program. Interested? Please contact one of the Officers.
Pre-entry prices will remain the same as last year ($75.) for OT’s and +30’s at our race. Support classes will be increased $10 from last year ($75 this year). Entry pricing for those that choose to enter the day of the race will be increased by $20. Minis will remain at $20.
Bill Macdonald is looking into what it would take to put together a women’s only race for Sunday. In order to ride, women must either be a wife (or significant other), over 18 and not have ridden in any other race over the weekend. Sound like fun? Bill Macdonald should have more details at the next meeting.
